Planning for additional pickleball courts at a popular regional park.

Update to Courts 1 and 2

Effective January 1, 2025, Court 1 and Court 2 will be modified to create four pickleball courts. This will double the current capacity for pickleball play at McInnis Park, in advance of potentially adding more courts. Thank you for your patience as we make the transition to four courts.

  • Pickleball court 1a will be first come, first serve. Walk on play only. One hour limit if other players are waiting.
  • Pickleball courts 1b, 2a, and 2b can be reserved up to six months in advance. Online reservations for 2025 will open on November 4, 2024 at marin.itinio.com.
  • Private instruction, camps, classes, leagues, tournaments, or commercial use of the courts requires a permit.

Design Explorations Begin

In summer 2024, the Parks landscape architecture team began exploring design possibilities for additional pickleball courts at McInnis Park. The team is expected to present their research and initial findings at upcoming Parks and Open Space Commission meetings sometime this fall or early winter. At that time, the public will be invited to provide comments.

Background

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America. It is a fun, social game suited to players of all ages. Recently, McInnis Park has become a popular destination for Marin's many pickleball players. To help meet the need for convenient and affordable places to play, Marin County Parks has begun exploring options for adding more pickleball courts to McInnis Park. This will include opportunities for public feedback as we go through the research, design, and planning process.
